SherLog

Stop alt accounts on your Discord server

New members verify in one click. SherLog compares them with your other members and tells you, in plain words, who looks like an alt -- without flagging families, schools or phone networks.

Simple for members

A button in Discord, a page here, one click: the role at once. Nothing to install.

Clear for moderators

Every alert says why: “same home IP and same device as @Léa · account 2 days old”. Let in, kick or ban in one click.

Safe for everyone

Nothing is kept in clear, data goes after 90 days, and every member can delete theirs.

How it works

Set it up

/sherlog setup picks the role and the channel -- or /sherlog import takes over Double Counter's.

Lock the server

/sherlog lock hides your channels from unverified members. /sherlog unlock undoes it.

Decide what matters

Alts are held for you; what's only worth a look comes with its reasons. Raids are stopped on their own.

Questions

Will it flag my brother, or my school?

Rarely. Each sign has a weight: the same browser counts a lot, the same home address less, a phone network's address -- shared by thousands -- almost nothing. Under 35 out of 100, nobody is bothered; 35 to 69, they're let in and you're told why; 70 and up is an alt. A member held by mistake can ask for a second look from the page.

What does it keep?

Keyed one-way fingerprints of the connection and the device (HMAC-SHA256): they can be compared, never read back. The result, and when. All of it 90 days at most. Details.

Can a VPN get round it?

VPNs, proxies and Tor are recognised and refused by default; behind a proxy, the browser's real address is found anyway. Nothing is impossible to get round, but the usual ways are closed.
